Diego Maradona is the best player I have ever faced - Romario

Brazilian legend Romario has described Diego Maradona as the best footballer he’s faced.
The pair crossed paths whilst representing their respective national teams with Romario famously nutmegging Maradona in Brazil’s win over Argentina at the 1989 Copa America
Romario, who has entered the world of politics after hanging up his boots in 2009, was posed the question by Juan Pablo Sorín and he didn’t hesitate when answering.

“The best player I’ve ever faced was Maradona, by far,” he told Resenha ESPN.
Throughout an illustrious 24-year playing career Romario played for no fewer than 10 clubs across four different continents.
One of the most prolific strikers in history he’s one of the few to surpass the 1,000 goal barrier.
His goals helped Brazil win an historic fourth World Cup title in 1994 and only injury prevented him from being part of their squad four years later in France.
For the national team only Pele (77 goals) and Ronaldo (62) surpass him (55) with Neymar not far behind (52).
