Gilmour presently hasn't played for Rangers' senior squad. But, he has trained with them back in January after making debut for the U-20 side in December. He has played for Scotland U-16 side and played for his country in the Victory Shield between the fall of 2016, where they ended up finishing second. His specialized capacities have been highly evaluated, with the player looking comfortable operating anywhere in the heart of midfield.

Rangers needed to keep hold of their crown gem. With Gilmour's desire to leave and many top clubs interested in him — including Manchester United and Arsenal, the Glasgow club agreed to let him go "The club's desire would have been for Billy to remain at Rangers. Meanwhile, Antonio is looking to complete more signings this summer to reinforce the squad, with two La Liga stars- Alvaro Morata and Aymeric Laporte being closely targeted by the Italian.
