Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Tim Howard has received a three-game ban and a fine after telling a Sporting Kansas City supporter “I f***** your mother”.
Howard was heckled by opposing fans during his side’s 3-1 defeat on Monday, with the former Everton and Manchester United shot-stopper being told to “go back to Colorado
In addition, the 38-year-old was involved in a minor disagreement with Sporting Kansas City’s Dom Dwyer after the game and also engaged in another confrontation in the tunnel.
A Colorado Rapids statement read: “Tim Howard made a regrettable mistake for which he is being disciplined by MLS. While this is out of character for Tim, we do not condone these actions.
“Everyone at the Colorado Rapids Soccer Club stands behind Tim and we look forward to welcoming him back to the pitch in the near future.”

After nearly 13 years in English football, Howard returned to MLS with Colorado
Rapids last year and has since made 22 appearances for the club, keeping eight clean
sheets.
He is the eighth-highest capped player in the history of the United States national team
having represented his country on 113 occasions.
However, he will now miss the upcoming fixtures against Real Salt Lake, Minnesota
United and Orlando City.
Colorado have made a disappointing commencement to the campaign and are currently
in tenth place having won one, drawn one and lost two of their games so far.
