Sepp Blatter claims football's culture to blame for Ronaldo tax issues

Sepp Blatter claims footballs culture to blame for Ronaldo

Former FIFA's president Sepp Blatter has compared the situation of the Portuguese to that of tennis legend Roger Federer, who, in his eyes, is "untouchable."

Blatter claimed a culture of suspicion in football is to blame for the investigation of Cristiano Ronaldo by Spanish tax authorities.

Prosecutors have filed a complaint in which they accused Ronaldo of a "voluntary" and "conscious" breach of his tax obligations, amounting to a figure of €14.7 million.

The Ballon d'Or holder's representatives Gestifute have denied the accusation, while his club Real Madrid have said they are "absolutely convinced that our player Cristiano Ronaldo will prove his total innocence in this process."

Former FIFA president Blatter is serving a six-year ban from all football-related activity over a "disloyal payment" made to former UEFA chief Michel Platini.

In an interview with RTS, the 81-year-old Swiss claimed Ronaldo's situation is a consequence of endemic distrust in football compared to other elite sports.

"One would never suspect [tennis great Roger] Federer, a money-making machine," he said.

"Federer is untouchable."

Reflecting on the temptation for athletes to break the rules on the field, Blatter cited the example of Diego Maradona's infamous 'Hand of God' goal against England at the 1986 World Cup.

’Cristiano Ronaldo is innocent’

"It's not good, but we cheat anyway," he said.

"That's why this sport [football] has set itself some safeguards."

Cristiano Ronaldo tells agent Jorge Mendes to Force through return to Manchester United

Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has told his agent to seal a dream return to Manchester United.

Ronaldo wants Jorge Mendes to “do everything possible” to make the move happen.

Ronaldo, who left Old Trafford for Real Madrid in 2009, stunned the Spanish giants when his desire to leave emerged on Friday.

The forward faces allegations of a £13million tax fraud and now doubts over his Real future have sparked a megabucks scramble for his services.

United, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are all potential suitors.

PSG are prepared to offer £122m to land him plus a staggering salary of £26m per year to persuade him to switch to the French capital.

But Ronaldo is keen to return to United and has instructed his representative, fellow Portuguese and super-agent Mendes, to do everything in his power to make it reality.

The 32-year-old is understood to feel he had unfinished business at Old Trafford and cannot miss out on the chance to return as a hero.

What a way to talk sh** - Messi talks tough on Instagram user

What a way to talk sh** - Messi talks tough on Instagram user

Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi is currently enjoying some downtime after a long season, in which he stepped up another gear after losing out in the race for the Ballon d'Or to Cristiano Ronaldo in late 2016.

The striker has been chilling in Ibiza as he bids to recharge his batteries, and one photo went viral this week as it detailed how much Mr. Messi had apparently spent at a restaurant -  €37,330.

It turns out that the ridiculous bill was not racked up by him and his friends, and was either falsely attributed to the group by Instagram user Juezcentral, or cleverly Photoshopped.

It prompted Messi to write in Spanish 'Jajajajajajajaja que manera de hablar al pedo. Como inventan. lo mas lindo es que la gente se lo cree' which means 'What a way to talk sh**. What a way to invent [lie]. The cutest thing is that people believe it'.

The passive-aggressive comment went down well on social media before it along with the photo was deleted by Juezcentral, given that Messi is notoriously grounded and well-spoken.

Chelsea joins bid for Alvaro Morata

Granada CF v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

There are reports that Chelsea's billionaire owner Roman Abramovich has approved a £70m bid for Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata.

The Mirror have reported that Chelsea are seeking a replacement for Diego Costa, who is on the verge of a return to Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish international has reportedly agreed to terms with United, but Abramovich has given the go-ahead to join the battle for his signature.

Los Blancos are believed to be reluctant to sell the player for purely a fee, but would rather initiate a swap deal should they allow Morata to leave.

The European champions would look to offer both Morata and Keylor Navas to United in exchange for David de Gea, while Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois could be part of the demands in a deal with the Premier League champions.

Morata scored netted 19 in 43 appearances for Real Madrid last season, but his number of starts was limited under Zinedine Zidane.

The French coach reportedly wants the 24-year-old to stay at the club, but Morata is desperate for regular game time, which can't be guaranteed at the Bernabeu.

United are still considered favourites to sign Morata as they look to secure a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

AS Roma forward Mohamed Salah to undergo medical at Liverpool

AS Roma forward Mohamed Salah will undergo a medical with Liverpool on Tuesday after a £39 million transfer fee has been agreed with Roma.

According to reports from Egypt top media outlet KingFut; Jurgen Klopp’s side had launched an improved bid of €45m (£39.4m) for the 25-year-old in the wake of accepting that the Serie A club would not bring down their cost on the Egyptian.

KingFut claimed that the offer has been accepted by Roma after negotiations with the midfielder’s representative, Ramy Abbas, in London. Salah’s ticket to England has now been booked and the former Chelsea player will arrive for his medical session at Liverpool on June 20.

The European giant has been in talks with Roma since the start of June after their underlying £28m offer was refused. In spite of the need to sell a key player keeping in mind the end goal to meet Financial Fair Play rules, Roma were fixed that the midfielder would not be permitted to leave at a cut-cost charge.

Ronaldo's Agent Held Secret Talks With PSG Just Hours Before Champions League Final

Ronaldo's Agent Held Secret Talks With PSG Just Hours Before Champions League Final

The agent of Cristiano Ronaldo is alleged to have held secret talks with Paris Saint-Germain just hours before the forward played for Real Madrid in the Champions League final.

The Mail claims that Jorge Mendes met with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi in Cardiff on the afternoon of June 3rd and the duo spent several hours together.

Though Mendes has ties with a number of players at the French club, the Mail suggest that it was Ronaldo's future that was discussed at great length between the two men and that Al-Khelaifi was warned that the Portuguese international could be on the lookout for a new club in the near future.

PSG are understood to have asked Mendes to keep them informed of Ronaldo's situation at the Bernabeu, and they may well have stolen a march on the likes of Manchester United, who are one of the clubs currently being linked with the 2016 Ballon d'Or winner.

The 32-year-old's future at Real Madrid now looks uncertain with reports suggesting on Friday that he wants to leave Spain after the authorities accused him of tax evasion.

The accusation is just one of a number of reasons why Ronaldo allegedly wants to leave Los Blancos this summer, and inevitably talk of his departure has sparked widespread rumours about his next destination.

A return to United seems like a viable option for the former Old Trafford favourite; however, PSG remains in the mix and have long dreamed of signing the Portugal captain.

Indeed, the Parisians attempted to sign Ronaldo 18 months ago before he eventually opted to sign a new deal at Madrid.

It remains to be seen whether reports of the player's unhappiness are true, but PSG's wealthy owners will be quietly confident that they can match any price tag he is given by his employers, as they look to pull off what would most likely be the signing of the transfer window.

I would “love” Kylian Mbappe to join Gunners this summer - Petit

Arsenal legend Emmanuel Petit has admitted he would “love” Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe to join the Gunners this summer, although he warned the 18-year-old of choosing his next club carefully following Anthony Martial’s struggles at Manchester United.

Arsenal have already had an informal offer of £87million rejected by Monaco for Mbappe, but are prepared to use Olivier Giroud as part of any deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

Mbappe, 18, is also being monitored by a host of clubs – including Real Madrid, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea – but Petit has warned the France international to think carefully about where he goes this summer lest his career follow the trajectory of Martial at United.

He told talkSPORT: “Mbappe is the leader of this generation.

“I would love it [for him to join Arsenal]. I remember two years ago we had almost the same example as Martial.

“Martial was very good the first months with Manchester United and since Mourinho has managed the team he’s not in the same position anymore. It’s a risk.

“Talent is something very important in football but you need to have confidence as well from team-mates and your manager.

“You have to be tough and strong in your mind.”

Cristiano Ronaldo fee put at £131m as forward hints on Real's exist

Cristiano Ronaldo fee put at £131m as forward hints on Real's exist

Cristiano Ronaldo’s advisers are telling clubs that he wants to leave Real Madrid for a “fresh challenge”, with a fee of €150million (£131m) being mooted, and not because of the accusations of tax fraud he is facing in Spain.

Although that claim will be met with understandable scepticism, not least because of the briefings from Ronaldo’s camp this week, clubs are nevertheless being encouraged to believe he is serious in his desire to quit and would welcome offers.

Having won the Champions League three times in four seasons and winning La Liga again, it is argued by sources close to Ronaldo that, aged 32, he wants to move on for football reasons and has done all he can in Madrid and in Spain.

There is, however, one big problem with this argument and that is the fact that Ronaldo signed a new five-year deal with Real only last November. The buy-out clause is €1bn, which is obviously unachievable, but a world-record bid of €150m (£131m) may be forthcoming.

That is the figure which is circulating in football and might tempt, in particular, Paris Saint-Germain to make such an offer, while Manchester United remain interested and could also go that high. There could be a new suitor in Inter Milan, who are spending big under their Chinese ownership. If he leaves Madrid, Ronaldo wants to stay in Europe which would rule out a move to the Chinese Super League.

PSG are re-building this summer and have earmarked a budget of €220m (£192.3m) to sign up to six new players under their new and highly-rated sporting director Antero Henrique, who has been recruited from Porto. PSG do not want to blow all their money on Ronaldo, but will generate funds on top of their budget through sales - seven players are up for sale - so may have even more to spend.

They have long courted Ronaldo and have an open dialogue with his agent Jorge Mendes, the representative for PSG player Angel Di Maria, who may be one of those to leave, and also James Rodriguez and Pepe, who are leaving Real and have both been offered to PSG. Henrique also has a strong relationship already with Mendes and knows his fellow Portuguese, Ronaldo.

PSG have previously pointed out to Ronaldo’s representatives that Paris has the largest Portuguese community outside of Portugal in Europe – there are 1.2million in the French capital – and he would be an instant hero at the club where the challenge would be to regain the French league and, more than that, win the Champions League for the first time in their history.
Cristiano Ronaldo

United also remain a possibility and there is strong admiration for Ronaldo and the way he has reinvented himself as a central striker in the past couple of years. The fact that he is 32 is not a concern given the way he looks after himself and has not suffered any serious injuries in his career. There is, therefore, genuine belief that Ronaldo could remain at the top for another four years.

However, United are wary given Ronaldo was expected to return to them in 2013, almost as Sir Alex Ferguson’s parting gift to his successor David Moyes, only to change his mind and sign a new deal at Real. It left United in the lurch and they were also played by Sergio Ramos in 2015.

United are already in talks with Real to sign striker Alvaro Morata and are trying to resist including David De Gea in any negotiations.

Ronaldo is away with Portugal at the Confederations Cup at present and despite the protestations that his desire to leave is not because of the tax case, it is undeniable that the revelation will deflect attention away from the fact that he is accused of defrauding the Spanish tax office of €14.7m (£13m) between 2011 and 2014.

Cristiano Ronaldo new Instagram profile picture that's getting a lot of reactions

Ronaldo new instagram picture hints on move away from real

Cristiano Ronaldo has changed his profile photo of him in a Real Madrid shirt in a move that supports his desire to leave the La Liga champions.

Ronaldo decided to dump his old Instagram profile picture, swapping the Real Madrid one with another showing him in a Portugal kit.

It could be because he is representing Portugal in the Confederations Cup, but according to Social media users, “he has never done this in the past.”

It led to many speculating that he could indeed be seeking an exit from the Spanish club.

One post from a United fan read: “I am in full muppetry mode, I think he’s actually coming.”

Cristiano Ronaldo reportedly wants out of Real Madrid and is hoping for a move back to his former side Manchester United.

Another added: “If Ronaldo signs for us, I’ll sing and play his chant on guitar, wearing only a hat, and my wife’s smallest panty.”

Real Madrid seemed to back him completely, but a different picture has since emerged which may suggest why he wants out after eight years at the club.

Cristiano Ronaldo is said to not feel protected by Real Madrid over tax fraud claims

The breakdown may be linked to reports in El Confidencial which claimed that, as it emerged that news of Ronaldo’s charge was going to break, Real contacted all the Spanish media outlets and requested them not to publish pictures of Ronaldo in a Los Blancos shirt when covering the story.

Ronaldo, who left Manchester United to join Real Madrid in 2009 and won everything with Los Blancos, was also puzzlingly left out of a video promo for Madrid’s new kit.

Cristiano Ronaldo will retain the Ballon d’Or - Hugo Almeida

Cristiano Ronaldo will retain the Ballon d’Or - Hugo Almeida

Portuguese professional footballer and AEK Athens star Hugo Almeida has said former team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo will retain the Ballon d’Or.

It was a memorable season for four-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo, who helped Madrid to LaLiga and Champions League glory.

The Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo netted 42 times in all competitions – 25 coming in LaLiga as Madrid were crowned champions of Spain for the first time since 2012 after ousting Barcelona.

He scored 12 in Europe – comprising a match-winning brace in the 4-1 Champions League final victory against Juventus – to seal the competition’s top scorer award for a record fifth successive season and the sixth time in his career as Madrid became the first side to retain the trophy under its current guise.

Barca’s Messi scored 54 times during the 2016-17 campaign but Almeida – who played alongside Ronaldo for Portugal and scored 19 goals in 57 appearances – has backed his former international colleague to clinch a record-equalling fifth Ballon d’Or.

“Of course he will win the Ballon d’Or,” Almeida told Omnisport.

“He won LaLiga and the Champions League what more can you want?

“In the final stages of the Champions League, he scored 10 goals against the biggest teams – Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich.

“No doubt that he will win the Ballon d’Or.”

Despite his exploits in 2016-17, Ronaldo was still heavily scrutinised by his own fans in Madrid.

Madrid’s all-time leading scorer – who has now recorded 600 career goals – was the target of boos and whistles at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo has publicly voiced his frustration over the treatment and Almeida said it is unwarranted.

“It’s unfair. He doesn’t have to prove anything to nobody,” Almeida continued.

“Every year he does something great, makes records. People think he will go down but he is not. He is coming and coming more stronger.

“He is the best in the world… he is a machine.”

Messi won't fit at Madrid - Asensio

Messi won't fit at Madrid - Asensio

Real Madrid midfielder Marco Asensio has said there is no room for even Lionel Messi at the European champions.

Asensio, 21, has been linked with a move away from the LaLiga giants but is expected to sign a new deal with Madrid.

Several players from Zinedine Zidane’s star-studded squad are linked with switches to get more game time, including James Rodriguez and Alvaro Morata.

But Asensio is happy with the Madrid squad as is, saying not even Barcelona star Messi could be added.

“Not right now,” he told Marca when asked if Messi would fit at Madrid.

“The team is very good as it is. If we stay as we are, it’s perfect.”

Asensio netted three times in 23 league appearances for Madrid in the 2016-17 campaign.

Juventus Expresses Condolences to Fan who Died Following Champions League Stampede

Juventus have expressed their condolences after it was confirmed a fan that was injured during a stampede at a Champions League final fan zone in Turin has died.

It was reported that over 1,500 fans were hurt after a stampede was triggered by a crowd watching the Bianconeri’s 4-1 loss to Real Madrid on June 3.

The releasing of firecrackers sparked panic as supporters watched the showpiece on giant screens in the Piazza San Carlo in the city, and it was confirmed on Thursday that fan Erika Pioletti has passed away.

“Juventus Football Club would like to express its sincere condolences for the death of Erika,” the Italian champions said in a statement.

“The events that took place in Turin and the city’s victims of the tragedy on 3 June remain in the hearts and minds of all involved with the club.”

It has been claimed that many became frightened that the loud bangs could have been as a result of a terrorist attack in the square.

It has also been reported that a railing at the top of a stairwell leading to an underground car park gave way, causing people to run to safety.

Gareth Bale to remain at Real Madrid

Gareth Bale to remain at Real Madrid

Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale has reportedly decided to remain at the club.

After being limited to just 19 appearances in La Liga this season, it was suggested that the Welsh star and the Spanish club might mutually decide to part ways should an agreeable offer be received.

Both Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have been linked with a move sign him.

According to the Daily Mail, the 27-year-old has no plan of leaving the La Liga outfit.

Reports claim that Bale remains intent on proving himself at the Bernabeu and has already begun fitness work in an attempt to improve his condition ahead of the next campaign.

Bale has been restricted to just 12 appearances for club and country this year, with his most recent outing a substitute appearance at the Champions League final.

He has not scored a goal for Madrid since February 26, where he scored in his side’s 3-2 triumph at Villarreal.

FIFA introduces new measures against discriminatory behaviour

Referees have been given special authority to halt or even abandon games

World football governing body, FIFA has introduced a three-step plan designed to end discrimination in the sports at the Confederations Cup in Russia.

Referees have been given special authority to halt or even abandon games in the event of discriminatory behaviour.

It is also gathered there will be specially trained 'match observers' who will be on hand to monitor fans from both teams and send any relevant evidence to FIFA's Disciplinary Committee for possible further action.

"For the first time in an official tournament, FIFA will use a three-step procedure in case of discriminatory incidents and also deploy anti-discrimination observers at all matches of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2017," world football's governing body said in a statement.

"With this three-step procedure, referees will have the authority to first stop the match and request a public announcement to insist that the discriminatory behavior cease, to then suspend the match until the behavior stops following another warning announcement, and finally, if the behavior persists, to decide to abandon the match.

"The match observers are coordinated and trained by the Fare network, an Organization with a long track record of monitoring and fighting discrimination in football. Based on Fare's 'Global Guide to discriminatory practices in football,' the match observers will monitor the behavior of fans from both teams, as well as any spectators who are not affiliated with a particular team playing in the match.

"Should any discriminatory incidents occur during a match, the evidence collected by the match observers will be forwarded to the FIFA Disciplinary Committee for review and potential action. Furthermore, the match observers will support operational staff in resolving incidents of discrimination before and during the matches by being directly in touch with security personnel."

FIFA president Gianni Infantino described the measures as "ground-breaking changes in the global fight against discrimination that will mark the 2017 edition of the FIFA Confederations Cup".

Vitaly Mutko, Russia's Deputy Prime Minister, and Local Organising Committee (LOC) chairman added: "We are pleased that Russia has been entrusted with the mission to become the first host country of the Confederations Cup and the World Cup to implement such initiatives with the aim of making world football better.

"This is a very honorable role and a big responsibility, and we are confident that the forthcoming Tournament of Champions will be held in an atmosphere of celebration and hospitality towards all guests and teams of the Confederations Cup."

Wayne Rooney All Over His Bikini-clad Wife As They Sunbathe In Mykonos

He might be a badass on the field, but when it comes to his wife, Wayne Rooney is as mushy as they come. The professional footballer put everything else on hold to spend time with his wife, and from the look of things, it was well worth it.

The couple were seen on Monday sunbathing during a trip to Mykonos. The footballer was all handsy with his wife of nine years.

Lying on a lounger, Coleen had on a red two-piece bikini which Wayne looked ready to pull off were it not for the other people around. Wayne Rooney climbed on top of his wife, wrapped his arms around her and passionately kissed her face, neck, and chest.

Ander Herrera is one of the smartest players I have managed - Jose Mourinho

Ander Herrera is one of the smartest players I have managed

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has described Ander Herrera as “one of the smartest players” he’s ever coached.

The 27-year-old been a pivotal figure in the Portuguese tactician’s first season at Old Trafford which culminated by winning the Europa League.

It was during that final against Ajax the Spanish international produced a moment which greatly impressed his manager who made the detailed account while giving a recent lecture at the University of Lisbon.

“Mourinho talked a lot about Herrera, saying he is one of the smartest players he has had during his career,” wrote Petter Skogsletten, one of the students present, on Reddit.

“Herrera took hold of [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan and sent him in front of the keeper, while Herrera would take the pitch outside the box. Mourinho said he was so frustrated that he said ‘What the hell is going on?’

“It turned out Herrera had taken responsibility in the situation – Mkhitaryan had a yellow card. If Ajax suddenly counterattacked and Mkhitaryan had fouled the player, he would have been sent off.

“Mourinho said he is incredibly pleased to have such players who can handle situations on their own and adjust.”

Herrera belatedly joined the Red Devils in the summer of 2014 for a reported £30.6m after a prospective move from Athletic Bilbao broke down 12 months prior.

After a slow start under former boss Louis van Gaal he established himself as one of United’s most important midfielder a reputation he’s carried into Mourinho’s debut campaign.

Renowned for his tenacity and strong passing ability, Herrera is firmly a fan favorite among United’s vast legion of supporters and was recently named as the fans’ player of the season.

Widely considered a future captain, Herrera to date has made 122 appearances for the record 20-time English champions, registering 15 goals and 22 assists in the process.

Kylian Mbappe reveals Real Madrid have been after him since he turned 14

Monaco striker Kylian Mbappe has revealed Real Madrid have been after him since he turned 14.

The 18-year-old French international has taken European football by storm in the season just gone and consequently been linked with a host of clubs across Europe.

One of those is the Champions League winners, who are long-time admirers, with Mbappe adding he’s not sure where he will be playing beyond the summer.

“Real Madrid? They have been trying to sign me since I was 14,” he told Canal+.

“We’re going to go away with the family and we’ll think about what’s going to happen.

“We have to sort it out, see what happens with the club too, because I’m under contract with a club, I’m not free. We’ll see what’s happening.”

If he does join he’ll become the 13th Frenchman to represent Los Blancos with international teammate Raphaël Varane and Karim Benzema currently part of Zinedine Zidane’s first team squad.

Arsenal also hold an interest in the player, with Arsene Wenger having on multiple occasions revealed past attempts to sign Mbappe and recently even offering him some advice on choosing his next club.

Alexis Sanchez should be paid whatever he demands - Ray Parlour

Alexis Sanchez should be paid whatever he demands

Ex-Arsenal star Ray Parlour has said that the club should agree to Alexis Sanchez‘s wage demands in an attempt to convince him to stay.

The Chile international has just over a year remaining on his current contract and has yet to commit to a new deal, with reports suggesting that he is requesting wages of £300,000-a-week to remain at the Emirates Stadium.

Parlour told talkSPORT (via goal): “The club have got to make it an issue now and give the players the wages they want.

“They have got to step up now. I would say to Sanchez, ‘how much do you want?’

“If his agent says, ‘we want £300,000-a-week’ you have to pay it I’m afraid.

“They have come fifth in the league this year, which we know is not good enough for Arsenal’s standards. They won a trophy in the FA Cup.

“The manager has been sorted out, that is on the backburner, now the [future of the] players is the most important.

“If you want to compete with the likes of City, Chelsea, [Manchester] United, whoever it is going to be next year, then you have got to keep your best players.”

Sanchez performed outstandingly well for Arsenal this season, with the attacker netting 24 times in the Premier League, while he created 78 chances.

Sanchez is currently with the Chile team preparing for the Confederations Cup, with a decision on his future not likely to be made until after that tournament is over.

Qatar World Cup not under threat - Gianni Infantino

With Qatar facing what FIFA president Gianni Infantino described as a "diplomatic crisis," the future of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar would seemingly be in doubt. But Infantino discussed the situation this weekend, reconfirming FIFA's stance to have the bid winners host the 2022 tournament. Here's everything you need to know from Infantino's comments:

What happened?

Egypt, UAE, Bahrain and Saudi Arabia cut ties with Qatar last week under accusations of "supporting regional terror groups." It was the latest potential black eye on the host country of the 2022 World Cup. The concern was, if this indeed was true, how could this nation properly host the world's biggest and most important sporting event?

What did the FIFA president say?

Infantino, speaking to Swiss publication Le Matin Dimanche, was asked whether he thought Qatar was in jeopardy of losing the World Cup. Here's what he said:
"No. In any case, I am not in the habit of speculating and I'm not going to this time either," he said.
"The essential role of FIFA, as I understand it, is to deal with football and not to interfere in geopolitics.
"We are indeed facing a diplomatic crisis."
The FIFA president expects the country to 'return to normal' in time for the cup.
"But on the other hand, I am confident that the region will return to a normalized situation," he said.

What's next?

Most people feel like Qatar is a ridiculous place to host the World Cup -- especially due to recent accusations of corruption, human rights issues, extreme desert conditions year-round and now allegations of supporting regional terror groups -- but it looks like there won't be any other choice. With a soccer history that rivals Antarctica (I'm kidding, maybe?), it looks like there is no way it gets moved with Infantino reaffirming FIFA's stance. That, on top of all the work and money being spent in preparation for the cup, it looks like we are stuck with our first winter tournament.

Neymar named the most valuable player in Europe

Neymar has been ranked as the most valuable player in Europe by a new study that claims the Brazilian is worth a massive £185.42m.

The report by the CIES Football Observatory aims to provide a scientific approach to transfer values and has now come up with a list of the 110 most valuable players in Europe.

Neymar named the most valuable player in Europe

The values are supposedly determined by an algorithm based on analysis of close to 2,000 transfers and looks at performance, contract, international status, age and position.

And after all that it is Neymar who tops the bill ahead of Tottenham duo Harry Kane and Dele Alli, while Lionel Messi appears in fourth valued at £133.5m and Luis Suarez is sixth at £123.9m.

Other names to complete the top 10 are Antoine Griezmann, Paul Pogba, Gonzalo Higuain, Eden Hazard and Paulo Dybala, with Cristiano Ronaldo in 11th.

Manchester United in €10m deal negotiations over playmaker Adnan Januzaj

Manchester United are reportedly demanding around €10m from Real Sociedad for Belgium playmaker Adnan Januzaj.

Januzaj, 22, was heavily linked with a move to Real Sociedad in 2015 when David Moyes was the manager of the Basque side.

The Belgian had previously enjoyed an impressive breakthrough campaign at United under the Scottish manager, netting four times in 27 Premier League appearances during the 2013-2014 season.

Nevertheless, Januzaj has since failed to fulfill his potential in successive campaigns.

Januzaj was sent him on loan to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2015 before recalling him mid-way through the campaign after failing to secure regular time at the Bundesliga side.

Mourinho said last summer that Januzaj featured in his long-term plans but dispatched him to Sunderland with the hope he could resurrect his career under Moyes.

"He fits in my plans which is why he's on loan at a Premier League club," Mourinho then said. "If he didn't fit into my plans then we don't care about where he's going. We care about him and think he's a talented player.

"I want to give him all the conditions to develop and to play well. He is in the right place with a manager that likes him a lot. Hopefully everything will go well for him because we want him back!"

However, Januzaj also failed to make the impact expected at the Black Cats and Marca claims that Manchester United are now likely to sanction his departure on permanent basis.

Liverpool keen on Monaco's youngster Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool keen on Monaco's youngster Kylian Mbappe

Liverpool are reportedly keen on Monaco's youngster Kylian Mbappe.

Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp is reported to have made contact with the Mbappe's representatives.

As revealed by The Daily Mail, Liverpool have kept tabs on Mbappe over the past 12 months and are ready to make an offer to rival the likes of Arsenal and Real Madrid

It is understood that Arsenal have had an ambitious £87m bid rejected by Monaco for Mbappe, while Real Madrid reportedly had a world-record £103m bid turned down for the forward.

The 18-year-old was named the Ligue 1 Young Player of the Year after scoring 15 goals in Monaco's title-winning campaign.

Mbappe said last month that his sole focus was on developing his game by playing at a club that offers regular first-team football.

"I will make a choice based on my sporting career, and my career is first and foremost, and I am at an age where I need to play, and that will be paramount," he told beIN Sports.

"I'm not 35 or 36, an age where I have to manage [my body], I still have everything to learn, this year was discovery, and now comes the most important step: confirmation.

"And I will be the sole decision-maker, and I will not go anywhere where I will be forced to go."

Costa told to look for a new club by Conte

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has been told by club manager Antonio Conte to look for a new club.

The Spain International had earlier fallen out with Conte following a January bid from the Far East which the Stamford Bridge club duly denied.

Costa revealed that Conte made it clear that he does not feature in his plans ahead of the 2017-18 Premier League season, leaving him searching for a new club.

Costa, who netted 20 times for Chelsea in the Premier League last season, is interested in a move to former club Atletico Madrid, but their failed appeal against a transfer ban has complicated that option.

Costa told AS: “Things do not work in that way. The fight for the place has to be fair to stay and fight, but the fight is not fair and I have to leave.
“I have a contract of two years with Chelsea, they have to decide.

"If they sell me, I will look for the best choice. Atletico is among them, it would not mean not playing, they can loan me out to some team in Spain, Brazil or wherever, but I have to play. Everyone knows that I have a lot of affection for them.

Costa also ruled out the idea of a move to China, as it would jeopardise his hopes of playing in the World Cup.

"Of course I rule out China, I have to think about the World Cup," he said.

"I have a contract with Chelsea, they have to know what to do with me and I have to wait and know the decision that my club takes.”

Official: Manchester City unveils their 2017-18 kit.

Premier League giant Manchester City have officially unveiled their kit for 2017/2018 season

The English club has been on a major recruitment drive this summer and is set to sign a number of other big players having already acquired playmaker Bernardo Silva from Monaco for £43 million.

Pep Guardiola's men have been on a major recruitment drive this summer, and look set to sign a number of players for massive fees, having already acquired playmaker Bernardo Silva from Monaco for £43 million.

The newly acquired stars will be wearing a remarkably similar shirt to the one worn this year.

Launched with the tagline 'Create The Future', City's shirt is an all blue number, except for a white trim around the collar, made by Nike, and will be paired with white shorts.

“I’ve loved my first season with City. We work hard to play fast, exciting and attacking football and we’re looking forward to creating winning moments for our fans," said Leroy Sane.

Meanwhile, City have also confirmed that defender John Stones will wear the number five shirt previously worn by Pablo Zabaleta, who has joined West Ham.
